Acceptable Use Policy

Effective October 18, 2026

At a glance

  • Use SurveyHood for genuine research, feedback and data collection, and be honest with the people you ask.
  • No surveys that deceive, harvest sensitive data, target children without consent, or try to sell to respondents.
  • Purchased respondents are there to answer your questions, not to be contacted, recruited or identified.

This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.

1. Be honest with respondents

  • Say who is running the survey (or that it is confidential research) and roughly how long it takes.
  • If you promise anonymity, switch on anonymous mode and do not ask for identifying details.
  • Collect only what you need for the purpose you describe, and handle it under your own privacy notice.

2. Not allowed

  • Phishing and impersonation: surveys or forms that pretend to be another organisation, or ask for passwords, one-time codes or sign-in details.
  • Financial and identity data: asking for full card numbers, bank account or routing numbers, Social Security or other government ID numbers.
  • Sensitive data without safeguards: collecting health, biometric, precise location, sexual orientation, religious, political, immigration or criminal-record information without a lawful basis, explicit consent where required and appropriate security.
  • Children: collecting personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, or sending purchased-panel surveys to anyone under 18.
  • Selling under the guise of research: sales pitches, lead generation or fundraising disguised as a survey (“sugging” and “frugging”).
  • Push polls: questions designed to spread a message or influence opinion rather than measure it.
  • Harmful or illegal content: content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
  • Contests and gambling that break local sweepstakes, lottery or gambling laws.
  • Spam: sending invitations in breach of our Email Invitation Policy.
  • Abuse of the platform: probing for vulnerabilities, bypassing limits, scraping, overloading the service, reselling access, or using SurveyHood to build a competing product.

3. Extra rules for purchased responses

  • Do not ask participants for their name, email, phone number, social-media handles or other contact details, or ask them to contact you or visit a site to sign up.
  • Do not try to identify or re-identify participants, alone or by combining answers with other data.
  • Describe the survey length accurately; surveys much longer than quoted may be paused.
  • Do not ask participants to download software, install apps or make purchases.
  • Product tests and concept tests are fine; requests to buy or subscribe are not.

4. Enforcement

We may review surveys reported to us or flagged by our checks. If a survey breaks this policy we may pause it, remove it, cancel related orders, suspend the account or report illegal activity to the authorities. Where reasonable we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

To report a survey that looks abusive, email support@surveyhood.com with the survey link.
